Motorcyclist dies after North Carolina car accident

On Behalf of | Nov 4, 2014 | Uncategorized |

A motorcycle accident resulted in the death of one man in Raleigh on Oct. 27. Police arrested the driver of the car involved in the crash and charged her with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The accident occurred just before 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Clark Ave. and Daniels St. The 65-year-old woman was attempting a left turn onto Daniels St. from the eastbound lane of Clark Ave. The victim, a 22-year-old man, was headed west on his 2008 Suzuki GSX1300 motorcycle at the time. The woman reportedly did not see him and drove into his path. The man applied his motorcycle’s brakes but could not stop in time to avoid crashing into the woman’s 1998 Lexus LS400.

The motorcyclist was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh for the treatment of unspecified injuries. He later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries. The 65-year-old woman and her two passengers were not hurt in the crash. Investigators determined that the woman had been drinking before the accident, but police said her consumption was not sufficient to cause impairment.

Many drivers are unaware of the presence of motorcycles around them and make turns or change lanes in front of motorcyclists, which can result in fatal injuries. Families of motorcycle accident victims may be eligible to file wrongful death suits against negligent drivers after fatal accidents. Personal injury attorneys may have experience handling motorcycle accident cases and be able to guide victims’ families through the process of seeking compensation.
