Social Security Disability Insurance

At the law firm of Parker & Frey PLLC, we help people all over North Carolina pursue Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits. Whether we are reviewing the initial application or appealing a denied claim, clients trust us to do everything possible to help them obtain the benefits they need.

Here are three things you should know about SSDI benefits:

1. You must have paid in Social Security taxes. Most employees have Social Security taxes automatically deducted from each paycheck. When they are unable to work any longer due to a disability, they are eligible to get that money back. This is the essence of SSDI. (Note: If you never paid in taxes or simply didn’t work long enough for SSDI, you may still be able to get Supplemental Security Income benefits.)

2. You must be unable to work. The Social Security Administration will need proof that you can’t work for at least a year due to a physical or mental impairment. Your disability or disease must keep you from any employment at all, not just your current job.

3. If your initial claim is denied, don’t give up. Most claims are rejected the first time, and our lawyers are skilled at appealing SSDI cases. We will prepare you for the disability hearing and guide you through the process.

Dedication. Experience. Integrity. Compassion.

If you need assistance with your SSDI case, or you simply want to learn more about your options, turn to Parker & Frey PLLC. Our attorneys provide dedicated, experienced representation combined with integrity and compassion.
