Did workers’ comp accept your claim then offer little coverage?

On Behalf of | Jun 16, 2021 | Workers' Compensation |

Many North Carolina residents have trouble getting workers’ compensation claims approved. Those who are successful often find their workers’ comp providers offer little in coverage. If you’ve found yourself disagreeing with what your workers’ comp provider is offering you after suffering a workplace injury or illness, you may be able to fight for more.

Why do they do this?

At the end of the day, workers’ compensation insurance providers are businesses. They are in it to make money. How they make their money is by accepting more in premiums than they pay out in claims. So, they are more likely to pay as little as possible for the treatment and other expenses you need covered as a result of your injury or illness.

What can I do about it?

If you find your workers’ comp provider has accepted your claim and is paying out, but what you are receiving is far from enough to meet your needs or is far from what you feel is fair, you do not have to sit by and take it. You may be able to successfully request more. The sooner you do this, the better. Legal counsel may be able to help you negotiate for better coverage. If it really comes down to it, the matter may be taken to court.

Get what you deserve

You, like many other North Carolina residents, have given a good chunk of your life to your job. Workplace injuries and illnesses happen, and when they do, your employer and your workers’ comp insurance provider should take care of you and help you get back on your feet.
