One person was killed after an accident involving a moped on Dec. 19 in north Charlotte, and a 46-year-old faces charges for the accident that include driving while impaired and felony death by vehicle. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the crash took place around 11:30 p.m. on Old Statesville Road.

North Carolina head-on collision kills 2

Two men were killed in a head-on collision on I-26 in Hendersonville on Oct. 13 that caused the closure of the highway for nearly two hours. The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. when one of the drivers allegedly entered the highway via an off-ramp and drove the wrong way down the road.

A North Carolina teen who accidentally put her SUV in the wrong gear is now facing serious criminal charges. Her actions caused her boyfriend to die from massive head injuries. The 19-year-old is facing a charge of DUI manslaughter after blood tests showed alcohol and marijuana in her system. Her blood alcohol content registered at 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit.

2 acrobats suffer spinal injuries in circus accident

Circus acts have intrigued individuals throughout the nation since their creation. While many of the acts are awe inspiring, for many spectators, those involving acrobats are particularly thrilling. Recent circus spectators received a bigger thrill than they likely expected when a carabiner fastener failed sending acrobats performing in a “human chandelier” act to the floor, 20 feet below. A total of nine individuals were injured in the incident, eight acrobats and one person on the ground below. After the acrobats fell, the frame that supported them fell upon them. It weighed 350 pounds.
