Motor vehicle accidents can occur anywhere at virtually any time. The reasons they occur vary depending on the specifics surrounding each situation. In some cases drunk driving is a contributing factor.
Drunk driving is allegedly to blame for a crash that recently occurred in the state of North Carolina. Two men were seriously injured when their vehicles collided. Law enforcement indicated that the crash occurred after an allegedly intoxicated man lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line.
The family of the man who was following the rules of the road said he will have to undergo several surgeries to address the broken hip he suffered. In addition, he will likely have years of rehabilitation. This could be expensive and has made it impossible for the man, who is a truck driver, to work. His wife indicated that the family relied upon the money he brought in to get by.
To address the pain and suffering injured individuals experience as well as help to cover the extra expenses tied to the medical bills, many in this situation find it beneficial to file a personal injury lawsuit against the responsible party. Obtaining these benefits could make a big difference in the lives of those impacted by the drunk diving accident.
This is not the first time the man who caused the accident was arrested for drunk driving and he is facing consequences in criminal court. Whether he will face a personal injury lawsuit as well remains to be seen.
